Players Club Revisited
In 2006, Fly on the Wall introduced its readers to the strange case
of Telly Savalas Johnson, a Memphian who shares the better part of his
name with the now-deceased actor famous for playing Kojak, TV’s iconic,
lollypop-licking cop. Johnson, now 24, was arrested after allegedly
firing shots into a van full of people, striking a 4-year-old girl in
the leg.
In honor of Johnson’s recent conviction on five counts of attempted
first-degree murder, let’s all say it together: “Who loves ya,
baby?”
Headlines!
According to the Memphis Business Journal, “IP to Shutter
Virginia Mill.” Even bad news brings a smile if it begins with
“IP.”
Swank Crank?
According to WREC radio’s website, Sheriff Mark Luttrell announced
the bust of a “sophisticated” meth lab in East Memphis. The Fly-Team
doesn’t know what that means exactly, unless the suburban tweaker’s
recipe calls for imported artisan drain cleaner.
Public Service
According to the AP, a routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest
of two Memphis men on burglary charges after the passengers began
“surreptitiously” tossing things such as rings, bracelets, and an iPod
under the car. In such circumstances, it’s always best to
“surreptitiously” drop such items down your pants.
