Today we announce the launch of The Fly-By Sessions, a new monthly feature from the Memphis Flyer YouTube Channel where we invite Memphis musicians into Archer Recording Studio for stripped-down performances highlighting their talents and artistry in the most intimate way.
Our first guest is Greg Cartwright. The native Memphian, now splitting his time between the Bluff City and Asheville, North Carolina, co-founded the legendary Memphis punk trio The Oblivians, then went on to found Reigning Sound in 2000 with Jeremy Scott, Greg Roberson, and Alex Greene (who just happens to be the Memphis Flyer music editor). Ahead of Merge Records’ re-release of Reigning Sound’s sophomore LP, Time Bomb High School, Greg and Alex played “Since When” (from Reigning Sound’s Break Up, Break Down) and “Find Me Now” (from Home for Orphans) live in the studio, with Greg singing and playing guitar and Alex on piano. Sit back and take in the tunes โ the first of many in The Fly-By Sessions!
