Re: “Passport: Journey to the Maasai Mara

Had such a great time last year and can't WAIT for this year! So much fun and alot of cool things going on with this organization. Last year I got all my christmas shopping done, while in a cocktail dress AND enjoying great food, drinks and jams.

Stay far away from her. I do not know why this woman is free to walk the streets. She is sick in the head and tries to destroy people and their lives. It's not jus me saying this. Google her and its the same thing over and over for years all across the USA!

Re: “The Apache Relay and Johnathan Rice

My first time at Proud Larry's, great venue! My only complaint is that when the set was over, they immediately turned the house lights on as though to say "No encore for you, get out!"

Re: “Gary Hardy and The Memphis 2

Memphis visitors, this is THE PLACE to go for the best food in Memphis! Order the Beale Street plate that has pork ribs, more catfish fillets, and all the trimmings. I am a chow hound, but I could not finish the plate. We drove from Corpus Christi, Tx to Memphis to tour Graceland, Sun Records, and eat lots of the famous Memphis food. I studied all the Memphis restaurants on my computer; and Corky's was rated #1, and we did try it. It was nothing compared to Blues City Café. We ate at the Rendezvous and other famous or well known restaurants, and I promise that the Blues City Café is the best. Blues City Café is located across the street from B.B. King's place and it is an elbows on the table, no frills kind of place--but the food is fantastic!
There is a bar/club attached and the Gary Hardy band was playing. His show consists of a music history of Memphis and he has a Q&A format. However, if you answer a question he is rude and insulting. If your answer it wrong, he screams "You are stupid as hell!" He looks unwashed, dirty, and homeless and it appears that alcohol and drugs destroyed any and all talent that he might have once possessed. There is no cover charge; and even for free, it is not worth it. Gary Hardy is a loser and should be avoided. Other nights of the week there are some entertaining bands at this club.

My husband and I stayed over an extra night during our visit to Graceland just to be able to catch Tim Rowland's show and we were so glad we did. He was fantastic!! I have been to several Elvis impersonator shows and Tim's is far above all of them. Even much better than the one we saw in VEGAS! I wish him and his mom (who was very sweet to talk to) the very best!! I can only say one thing to Tim. "You shouldn't smoke because it could cause you to lose that great voice and that would be a great loss."

Re: “Choro das 3

We've all heard Brazilian music, right? Bossa nova... Carmen Miranda... Samba? Yes - but the sound behind all of these is "choro," the original Brazilian music.

A catchy, melodic style with kaleidoscopic harmony and counterpoint that make it fascinating to music lovers, choro is the musical melting pot of 19th-century Rio. It is the earthy, sophisticated, humorous, daring, joyous soul of Brazil. It's a living tradition, one currently enjoying a worldwide renaissance.

Memphis has never seen authentic choro played live. We will have our chance Wednesday, July 10, when the Memphis Acoustic Music Association will present one of the finest choro groups in Brazil in a Memphis premiere performance!

Choro das 3 is a Brazilian trio formed in 2003 by 3 sisters, then aged 10-15, from the state of Sao Paulo. Despite their youth, sisters Corina, Lia and Elisa have amassed an amazing number of achievements. They have played for audiences large (over a million) and small, for President Lula da Silva, and for a major Brazilian television show akin to our Late Show with David Letterman. Choro das 3 has garnered numerous national awards in a country that takes its music VERY seriously, performed for audiences in Europe and Japan - and now, they are in the US for their first tour of North America. You don't want to miss them!

In addition to the evening concert, the group will also conduct an afternoon workshop for all acoustic instruments (advance registration required).

More information and online ticketing is available at http://www.mamamusic.org.

We happened upon this restaurant after arriving in Memphis located across the street from Graceland we wanted to grab a bite to eat. Nice atmosphere, but let me tell you this,I could not believe the restaurant offered free entertainment? Tim Rowland, Elvis impersonater, was totally awesome! MY wife and me were totally mesmerized by this stunning performance of Tim. A true professional, who no doubt should be billed in Las Vegas. His song choice was phenominal. His interaction with the audience was warm and superb. He even walked about handing out small presents like stuffed bears, and these lays which my wife was lucky enough to get one. His voice was excellent spot on. Wonderful and terrific! Don't miss this great show. By the way the food was fine , the staff was very obliging, and the desert was super.

Re: “Champian Fulton Quartet

I will definitely be there after last year's concert! Her new CD is #12 on the jazz charts and moving up. Such a unique voice, and plays piano like Bud Powell. A rare talent.

Re: “"RS Antiques and Art Opening"

Robert Stephenson and Jayne Frank have raised the bar on antiques, art and accessories in Memphis. The opening was a great success. Thanks to the music provided by locals; Jim Duckworth and Jim Spake, who played an intimate set and made us all feel at home. The art, the museum quality antiques and the accessories are gorgeous. The crowd was filled with smiling faces of friends and family. This is more than an antiques store. RS Antiques and Art is becoming a staple for Memphis culture, art, decor, design and furniture.
