Re: “Five Things About Grizzlies/Rockets

Like the bullet form comments, Kevin.

I agree on Tyreke. It was obvious some of his teammates didn't like his ball stopping. But guess they, and we, are going to have to live with it.

Re: “Five Things About Grizzlies/Rockets

Harrison worked hard yesterday. If coaches can help improve his 3 point shot and layups, he could be a good role player.

They should really cut Baldwin and Zagorac or Deyonta Davis. None of these guys are going to become a natural NBA level basketball player. Hoping some guys will become a player future when they don't have the attributes is Hasheem Thabeet type of judgement error.

Parson's 94M are starting to hurt this team now. Cuban was right in not giving max to a player whose consecutive seasons ended with knee injuries. Wallace bought a lemon and the team will suffer for it in coming 3 years.

Wallace must go also. He has shown no intelligence in building team or selecting right draft picks. Because of TA/Zebo, this team avoided missing playoffs in last so many years. But the days of his reckoning are coming. I hope some one has the sense to get rid of him soon.

Re: “Five Things About Grizzlies/Rockets

Thanks Sue! I googled but didn't check Urban Dictionary - now I know.

To Andrea Tomes: According to Urban Dictionary, A basketball term; To make eye contact with an open teamate, and then pass the ball to another player, as if to disrespect the first players skills as a viable scoring option.

Sorry about my basketball ignorance but can somebody explain what the tweet "Tyreke just looked off eight Grizzlies" means? Thank you ...

Re: “Ten Things About Grizzlies/Hawks

They were trying a lot of things last night, different combinations, etc.

Once the season gets into full swing, I don't think they will be as reliant on deep bench play as usual - I suspect a rotation of mostly veterans - Gasol, Green, Parsons, Evans, Wright, Ennis, Selden, Conley, Chalmers as a 9 man rotation (10 when McLemore gets back) and the younger guys when needed - Rabb, Davis, Simmons, Brooks, Baldwin.

Think Harrison and Martin get cut.

Last night showed me exactly one thing in reality - Ilyasova would be a nice fit with the Grizzlies. Nice stroke out to the 3 point line, active big and plays smart defense.

Re: “Ten Things About Grizzlies/Hawks

After watching yesterday's game, all I can say is good luck with the season. In years past, Zebo/TA/VC/TD won us some games by either some hot shooting or shear WILL of carrying the team on their back. This year not a single player besides MC/MG looks capable of giving 20+ points on a night when either MC or MG are struggling. And MG will struggle (being a moody person) and MC will breakdown at times. We can wait for Mclemore to see what he brings to the table but I don't expect his contribution to be a game changer.

Rebounding is going to be a nightmare this year on both Offensive and Defensive end.

To say -this is just off season and team will get better- is deluding ourselves. None of the players so any flashes of brilliance. No one knows what Parson will do but after 3 games, hope is fading fast.

Mike Conley and Marc Gasol are the senior player and their habit of playing each other through PnR is a disaster for other players. If we continue to move the ball like previous years- Point Guard brings the ball to top of the key and then passes to Zebo or Marc and let them decide what happens next- the other players will not improve or contribute.

I feel Marc's role has to change and should not be the first in line to receive the ball from point guard. If we play same scheme's as before, a 30 win season is very likely.

Re: “Deflections: The Roster, TV Angst, and The Buy/Sell Clause

This roster is gonna be tough to whittle down. And you forgot Vince Hunter. He just got the other 2-way deal. Take him and Kobi out of the equation, add Jamychal, and you've got 18 freaking guys signed and need to get down to 15. Not sure many of the middle of the pack guys on the roster can be packaged for more than a bag of chips via trade. I think a couple guys will just be cut outright.

Re: “PCL Championship: Memphis vs. El Paso

No bubbles burst. Thanks for the clarification. A better phrasing would have been that Edman split the season between Class A and Double A. The point being, of course, that his first Triple-A at-bats took place in the PCL playoffs.

Re: “PCL Championship: Memphis vs. El Paso

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but Tommy Edman started the season in Peoria with 155ABs in 38 games before being promoted to Palm Beach, where he only played in 17 games. An injury to Edmundo Sosa necessitated his promotion to Springfield, where he finished the year with 63 more regular season games. The call to Memphis came only because of the departures of Mejia and Valera to St. Louis. So to say he split the season between PB and Spr is inaccurate.

Re: “PCL Playoffs: Next ’Bird Up for Memphis

Also on Tuesday, the Cardinals announced the promotion of outfielder Magneuris Sierra . . . but to Memphis from Double-A Springfield. Sierra electrified Busch Stadium during a brief stint with the Cardinals this summer. He hit .365 in 13 games and set a franchise record with hits in his first nine games. He'll bring a healthy dose of speed to the Redbirds, both around the bases and in the outfield.

Re: “PCL Playoffs: Next ’Bird Up for Memphis

St. Louis promoted Valera Tuesday morning, a reinforcement for Cardinal infielder Matt Carpenter (currently nursing a shoulder ailment).

Re: “Grizzlies Still Have Big Questions to Answer in Free Agency

If we don't bring back Zach and tony, we will be a lottery team. You can't win with young second round picks and undrafted players in the NBA. This team will have no leadership and no identity. Hopefully they bring back Zach and Tony and allow them to retire here like Tim Duncan and Ginobli. You honor your vets who are still productive and can teach the young guys.

Re: “St. Louis Cardinals in Crisis: What's Gone Wrong

The biggest mistake other than the Adams trade to Atlanta was not getting serious with Sierra as the spark was there ! Giving up leads, terrible baserunnimg and lack of hitting we can over
come as this division always has ups and downs. I have heard replacing Matheny may be the answer ,but not now . My theory has always been don't fix it if it isn't broken !

Deford was one of my favorites, if not favorite, journalists of the last 40 plus years. And technically, I guess he was a sports writer.

Re: “Lord Stanley Comes to Tennessee

As someone who grew up watching hockey in Toronto (and no, I don't live in an igloo), I'm excited to see Nashville embrace hockey due to the great job GM Poile has done in putting together an exciting young team. I know Memphis and Nashville have an inter-state rivalry (as do Toronto and Montreal), but I'd love to see Memphians support the Predators. Your reward could be that y'all will finally see what a great sport hockey is. Go Preds!
