Re: “Mayor: Memphis Situation Different from New Orleans on Confederate Statues

So the statue can't be "relocated, removed, altered, renamed, rededicated, or otherwise disturbed." It says nothing about building a large piece of art around it?

Re: “The White League

Putz-a-brac, the monument celebrates "white supremacy" not slavery, I see your grammar is bad, but can't you read at all?

"One can be said to lead the way. Guess which one?"
Nearly all of Europe, even Brazil predates the USA. And if you obelisk huggers had your way we'd still have it here.

Re: “The White League

It doesn't have to be my personal thing to be "cultural heritage". That's what makes it "culture" as opposed to, say, property. By the way, if I'm not mistaken, you are Jewish. Don't Jews have slavery, from both sides of that divide? In fact, they do. As does every other culture on earth. Only one can be said to lead the way in its ending.

Guess which one?

Re: “The White League

"recognized white supremacy in the South and gave us our state" is your cultural heritage?
If you had the balls to come out and say it yourself, then it might qualify as free speech. What spineless little creeps modern day racist are.

Re: “The White League

So, you don't understand metaphor, use the appellation "dime store" in reference to a statue commemorating cultural heratage AND get your history wrong.

Gosh. I'm thing that this may explain a few things! It's all just ignorance on your part.

Re: “Highly Invisible

Had 2 friends in college who wanted different curtains in their dorm. They went to IHOP at 2:30pm and said, "We've come for the curtains." Took them down from 2 windows and left. Everyone there thought they were workmen.

Re: “The White League

Now who is forcing black Memphians to gaze upon the visage of a man or men or a flag that reminds them how their ancestors were massacred except to remind THEM? of their place. REALLY? Those are the words you are using to do what remind future generations. Mister you give no credit that those people can think for themselves. Mr. Troy I hope you will always have a job with Mphs Flyer so you can at least feed your family.

Sorry, a proper city would require hayseeds a 2 hour drive minimum.

And there are so many professions to choose from.

Re: “Safer Streets Wanted in the City

The cops wouldn't even pick up Jared Mclemore.

They intentionally refuse to enforce the law the inflate crime statistics so they can demand more money.

If you think the cops are going to do anything about this, you must have met a different breed of cop than the ones that showed up to Murphy's on 5-12-2017.

Re: “Murder Rate Holds But Violent Crime Up in City, County

Yea Funk, be glad you're insulated from the riff raff that they let into the burbs.

That graduation video is funny to me. Apparently the fight was over someone saving seats. Go figure.

I would be more than happy to never attend another high school graduation again if I could. I'm not sure what we're celebrating anyway. These days, so long as you show up to school, don't harass other kids too much, and give any effort at all, they'll make sure you walk across the stage with a diploma. High school graduation is basically a "congrats, you didn't screw up" celebration. For the kids that finish top of their class and get to be recognized for their work, sure I get it. For the rest, it's just a step, and a somewhat expected step at that.

For that matter, I could pass on just about any graduation ceremonies. I didn't get much from my undergrad graduation, other than a free dinner from my parents afterward. I could've been fine with having my diploma mailed to me. Of course, getting to have it in the Grove on a spring day at least made it pleasant.

I skipped my grad school graduation ceremony, just let them mail me my diploma. I paid for the piece of paper. You send it to me. Transaction finished. I know others feel differently, and they like their moment in the sun. That's a personality difference. I don't get into the ceremonies.

If A-Pop's behavior is any indicator, these seem to be typical Arlingtonians.

I'm so grateful to live in a proper city where such hayseeds have to drive an hour to bother me, and am even more grateful to the protective aura of "blight" that keeps such people outside the city limits
