Re: “Safer Streets Wanted in the City

The cops wouldn't even pick up Jared Mclemore.

They intentionally refuse to enforce the law the inflate crime statistics so they can demand more money.

If you think the cops are going to do anything about this, you must have met a different breed of cop than the ones that showed up to Murphy's on 5-12-2017.

Re: “Murder Rate Holds But Violent Crime Up in City, County

Yea Funk, be glad you're insulated from the riff raff that they let into the burbs.

That graduation video is funny to me. Apparently the fight was over someone saving seats. Go figure.

I would be more than happy to never attend another high school graduation again if I could. I'm not sure what we're celebrating anyway. These days, so long as you show up to school, don't harass other kids too much, and give any effort at all, they'll make sure you walk across the stage with a diploma. High school graduation is basically a "congrats, you didn't screw up" celebration. For the kids that finish top of their class and get to be recognized for their work, sure I get it. For the rest, it's just a step, and a somewhat expected step at that.

For that matter, I could pass on just about any graduation ceremonies. I didn't get much from my undergrad graduation, other than a free dinner from my parents afterward. I could've been fine with having my diploma mailed to me. Of course, getting to have it in the Grove on a spring day at least made it pleasant.

I skipped my grad school graduation ceremony, just let them mail me my diploma. I paid for the piece of paper. You send it to me. Transaction finished. I know others feel differently, and they like their moment in the sun. That's a personality difference. I don't get into the ceremonies.

At least one local legislator having a chicken dinner did not end up well.

If A-Pop's behavior is any indicator, these seem to be typical Arlingtonians.

I'm so grateful to live in a proper city where such hayseeds have to drive an hour to bother me, and am even more grateful to the protective aura of "blight" that keeps such people outside the city limits

:) and Brichy,
I believe the library was burned, not stomped, and burned several times, so all those may have been a reason. It was certainly a target a latter day Abrahamic cults.
I'm not sure how it compares with dime-store racist displays....
And little dude, I hope all that obelisk hugging ain't making you late for school.

CLMullins
I've often found that irrational obsessive behaviors can be changed via professional counseling.

But in the spirit of online peace and harmony I might change my moniker to Dwayne Johnson.

So, tell me, was the Library of Alexandria stomped out because of is racisism? It's misogyny? It's general badness? Maybe it was just an accident. A 600 year long accident. That makes lots of sense.

PersonalAccountability,
You wouldn't use it if it didn't matter. I've often found superficial pontifications to be perversely revelatory.

Re: “The White League

Oak,
I know, I just like pickin at your brain. Gives me plenty to consider.

I want to float down to the Gulf. My maternal family goes back many generations on the Ohio and Mississippi, starting on the docks and working up to the wheel house. My grandfather died before I could accompany him down to his beloved New Orleans. Major regret.

How do you float now?

Re: “The White League

@CL - Always like discussing these things with you as well.

About New Orleans and the surrounding region though. I'm intimately familiar with it, its people, and its history, both academically and practically, as I've made it a lifelong mission to boat all of the lower Mississippi, and all the Gulf Coastal region.

Have you ever had a chance to do a float from here to the Gulf, and the local bayous between Baton Rouge and the Delta Wildlife Refuge? One of my hobbies.

Anyway, I really don't object to the 'Liberty Monument' removal per se, and more or less your assessment of what it represents. As I've noted before.

But worries about the slippery slope of trying to eliminate the ugly pieces of history still persist. That's my thing here.

Your obsession with an online moniker is curious. Do all CLMullins fixate on such irrelevant minutiae?
