Re: “FROM MY SEAT: Empty Honors

What about Billy Fletcher?

Re: “Heat 107, Grizzlies 82: One Thought

They should trade Gasol before his value goes down further. Cleveland may give Brooklyn pick for Gasol and Tyreke Evans. Get an understanding from Tyreke before trading and get him back next year once this season is over.

With two first round picks + Conley + Tyreke + Parson, some semblance of a middle of the peck team rather than starting at bottom with no 2019 first round pick (thanks CW). For the rest, I am not too confident. May be, Brooks (more offensive opportunities) and Rabb (build strength) improve further during this year and become a rotation player. May be Kobi improves. Rest of the team is not worthy.

Re: “Heat 107, Grizzlies 82: One Thought

This is the end result of GnG aging out with no plan to replace it, either with an identity or players to execute it. Prediction: Pera sells to Kaplan/Straus, Levien takes over operations and fires Chris Wallace. We will stink the rest of the year and maybe next year as well.

Re: “Tigers 65, Samford 64

Disappointing win. All I can say is this team will get stomped by the top teams in the AAC.

Re: “Tigers 83, Mercer 81 (2 OT)

Glad they won, but this team isn't what I'm use to as a Tigers' basketball fan. If Coach Tubby Smith doesn't recruit better, his teams will stay mediocre and he will get fired/forced to resign before his contract is up. He can't coach up junior college players to compete with high level D1 players.

Re: “AAC Championship: #12 UCF 62, #16 Memphis 55 (OT)

Hope they get to play in the Liberty Bowl one last time. The Tigers could use some home cooking. GTG!

Re: “Six Tigers Named All-AAC

Congrats to the players. Hope you finish the season on a high note. AAC championship win and New Year's bowl game and win would be great. GTG!

Re: “Bigger Than a Bowl

For the uninformed: UCF = University of Central Florida.

Re: “Bigger Than a Bowl

Ha! I still think the Liberty Bowl is better than any non New Year's Six bowl. I just wish they could get better matchups than a 6-6 sec team vs a 7-5 big 12 team. And oh, I hope TCU beats Oklahoma. The Big 12 needs to be shut out of the playoffs for not considering Memphis as a member.

Re: “Bigger Than a Bowl

I confess to homerism with the Liberty Bowl comment, Strait Shooter. But it's a special event for this region, and has been for more than half a century. It's a shame the gluttony of bowl games simply drowns it among the dozens that have a fraction of the Liberty Bowl's history. Thanks for reading (and your attention to detail).

Re: “Bigger Than a Bowl

Frank, a minor quibble: You include the Liberty Bowl in your list of the bowl games that still matter. Why?...C'mon. Let's be real. Outside of Memphis, the Liberty Bowl doesn't matter any more than any of the other non-New Year's Six bowl games.

Re: “21 Thoughts on Tiger Football

Hats off to this fine group of youngmen! All of tbem have been a class act all the way! I will miss watching big Christian Johnson or Genard Avery! Our defensive players are unsung heros that often dont get attention, but they will be missed! Offensively, I going to have season end withdrawal from the excitment and joy all of these senior guys gave tbe city of Memphis!! Good luck and well deserved success!
