Re: “Alternative Uses for Jack Pirtle's Delicious Gravy

I generally find it to be lacking salt and undercooked, leaving it with a rather raw starchy taste. Guess I just prefer Mothers. Oh, I eat it with my livers, but I usually take it home, add a bit of real butter, some salt and fresh cracked black pepper, them microwave it for a bit.

Borst, you are the only person I know of without a gluten allergy or a moral objection to grease to hold that opinion. I'm off the sauce, but could drink it back in the day.

If I had a 55 gallon drum of their gravy and a pallet of their biscuits I wouldn't leave the house.

Like their chicken, love their livers and their steak sandwich, but the gravy, it's really not very good.

Oh, and if your personal lubricant is the color of gravy, well, some one didn't do their job very well.

Left off the one where one morning as he's taking a shower, Victoria Principle walks in and says the Supreme Court refused Bush's last appeal and Florida went to Gore.

I hope that Nancy Pelosi actually DID sign him up for a commemorative plate of the month club featuring scenes from The Beverly Hillbillies.

Re: “Smart Meters and You

While the councilman may be goofy, there are legitimate concerns with "smart meters", particularly their use of unencrypted data:

"After signing up with the German smart-meter firm Discovergy, the researchers detected that the company's devices transmitted unencrypted data from the home devices back to the company's servers over an insecure link. The researchers, Dario Carluccio and Stephan Brinkhaus, intercepted the supposedly confidential and sensitive information, and, based on the fingerprint of power usage, were able to tell not only whether or not the homeowners were home, away or even sleeping, but also what movie they were watching on TV."

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/45946984/ns/technology_and_science-security/t/smart-electricity-meters-can-be-used-spy-private-homes/#.UhRw5z_b0fy

I think the Flyer's readership would have been better served by looking more into the privacy implications of smart meters rather than using the issue to shoot fish in a barrel by making fun of a local pol.

Re: “Smart Meters and You

Apparantly, the meters are smarter than Councilman Brown. Under the Communist model, the government would subsidize the entire cost of providing utility service and no one would get a monthly utility bill, correct? Seems like this could be accomplished without a meter at all, much less a "smart one".
