Finally got around to watching WW84. AFAICT they set out to make a semi-satire about what a Wonder Woman movie made in 1984 (a la Superman III) would have been like at then at some point edited and advertised it as a straight follow up to the first film.
The goofy villain, the whole Kristen Wiig plotline, the jump physics and special effects all read as a remake/remaster of an early 80's movie that never happened, akin to the trend of remaking old video games.
But since they didn't market (or edit, really) the film that way, I just felt embarrassed for everyone involved.
