Re: “An Unnatural State

I must say, there are a TON of drilling rigs spread across Van Buren Co... its ridiculous. When i look at them all on a county map, it's even worse! I am Completely concerned about the proposed drilling on Greers Ferry Lake! I know that it is going to happen, but when?? My family and I live on the lake and they have already contacted family members about leases...just a few months ago. It saddens me that our beautiful town is going to be further destroyed by this. This is my home. That is not only our source of drinking water, but i bathe my children in it. We swim in the lake daily during the summer and fish(to eat not release) almost year round. Our water department has been hit with several boil orders from sediment issues and i feel that is only the beginning. Its never been that bad to the point that we get heavy rain and it puts us on boil order for over a week. I know they have found chemicals in several residents water. For a long time many residents, including myself, couldn't even turn our water faucets on without getting orange, murky, odd smelling or just plain muddy water. I see the damage it is doing on all levels and it out weighs the good by far! Not only that, but so many of the employees are not even residents!!! I KNOW that not all of them are even from this state, let alone, bringing jobs to our counties...They are from other states like Texas and Oklahoma... i could go on and on but i doubt anyone will read this so i'll stop. People need to open their eyes to the big picture because before you know it, its gonna leave us without a safe home to raise our children.
