Re: “Tennessee Senator Quotes Abraham Lincoln In His Support of Cockfighting

To those of you claiming this man is in the "hip pocket of the cockfighting community", I have to disagree. He is in the hip pocket of the tax payers, who for a change, want to be left alone. The same who refuse to have other peoples views forced on them because the bleeding hearts disagree with cockfighting. Just because animal activist view it as cruelty doesn't mean they are allowed to dictate to the masses, your opinion doesn't matter, your feelings do not matter, if you are offended get over it. If you do not like those words, realize those are the very same words you are telling the cockfighting community. Gamecock fighters see this as a tradition and a sport, also as a means of income. If you don't like it don't go to the fights, stay home and find something constructive to do with your time other than telling people what to do with theirs. Cockfighting is just a beginning for activist groups, everyone knows this is just a gateway for them. In other words if cockfighting is found to be cruel the legal growers who feed the masses will have to be found to be cruel as well because they are cutting chickens throats by the millions every minute of every day right down the road. It's about time our representatives realize they aren't just voted in by small groups of people who want to dictate to everyone else. In this day and age you see so many small groups being catered to. It's no wonder our government has become so invasive in our lives. With every whim, from religion to small issues such as this the government steps in and creates a new law to make some one happy, in turn violating peoples rights. Who do any of you think you are to tell another human being how to live their life, are you really so deluded and so off the beaten path from God that you believe an animal has a soul. Don't get me wrong I love my pets dearly but read your Bible folks, animals were put here for mans use, they are meant for beast of burden and to be used by man, not to be held to the standard as if it should have the rights of a human being. What you people are doing is elevating an animal to the level of a human being, it's wrong any way you slice it. How do I come to this conclusion you ask? When a government will imprison a man or woman and take their children from them for fighting any animal they have elevated that animal to a state above man. It is saying that animal is better than you and if you harm or damage it you will be imprisoned, it's WRONG PEOPLE, IT'S IGNORANCE AND IT'S SHAMEFUL! We are meant to eat, use and take sport in animals, plain and simple.
