I was stationed at NAS Memphis (in Millington) from Nov 1972 thru Feb 1973. One of my favorite memories of that time in the mid-South was attending a Deep Purple concert at the Coliseum, Dec 14, 1972; and yes, I still have the ticket stub. They were touring in support of "Machine Head" ... so not every would-be guitarist was playing "Smoke on the Water" just yet. Their opening act was Fleetwood Mac ... with Bob Welch on guitar and Bob Weston on vocal (most likely supporting their "Penguins" album). I would see this same line up again in Wichita, KS May of '73 ... this time they added Rory Gallagher before Fleetwood Mac. .... Tony Czech, Memphis, TN

Remember Dave when he worked at Madidi's .... and I was the assistant manager at Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale. Was mighty fine dining then ... sure it will be just as delicious at the new venue!! .... Tony Czech
