Re: “Labor of Love

I gave birth with Amy as my CPM on Nov 30, 2008 at my home near UM. It was my first birth, though I had attended two births previously both at home. Amy was a consummate professional, both before birth in prenatal sessions and during my labor and delivery. I experienced a post-partum hemorrhage and retained placenta, both things would undoubtedly have led to much medical fuss and fear on my part had I been in a hospital, and I certainly would have been unnecessarily parted from my baby for an extended period of time. Amy was able to solve the problem, stop the hemorrhage (potentially saving my life in the process) and my daughter was back in my arms moments later. I had what would have been a terrifying birth in a clinical setting safely at home. I would trust Amy's expertise any day of the week. I have since experienced a second home birth here in FL and would encourage all women in low-risk pregnancy (and being over 35 does NOT make you automatically high risk) to explore your options. Trust your body and trust birth.
