Re: “SCEC To Sue County Commission Over Voting Machine Turndown

Taxpayers & voters are tired of the Shelby County Election (SCEC) & the Administrator wasting our money!

Two weeks before the Nov. 3rd Election, Brent Taylor, SCEC Commissioner, & Linda Phillips, SCEC Administrator, claimed that there would be 100,000 mail-in votes & they needed additional scanners. They also wanted to purchase Ballot Marking Devices (BMDs) at the cost of 5.8 million dollars and during a pandemic! I spoke out against this purchase at the Shelby County Commission (SCC) meeting.

The SCEC Board Members & Administrator have used various tactics from fear to changing the election machine vendors' RFP dollar amounts without their knowledge or approval. If this is not illegal, it is unethical.

Now they want to sue the SCC, but they are not using any of the three SCEC attorneys; why? They have hired an outside attorney. Doesn't the SCEC Board Members & Administrator have a fiduciary responsibility not to waste taxpayers' money? Why hasn't there been a forensic audit of the SCEC?

SC voters want a Hand-Marked Paper Ballot voting system, so why aren't the SCEC Board members so adamant about purchasing BMDs?

SC voters, TN State Legislators, and state legislators across the country want HMPBs!

So, what is the real deal?

Voters want to know!

The BMDs would not be used until the 2022 Election, so what was the rush? I spoke out against this purchase at the Shelby County Commission (SCC) meeting.
