Re: “A Compromised Greensward “Solution”

I think we can all agree that the city gov. and the land grabbing zoo bullied and threatened the Greensward supporters to this ridiculous point. Mr. Veazey says the map that the city engineering dept. drew up last year was conceptual? I and many others call it what it is: one of many aggressive and bullying tactics used to display naked power. All aimed at intimidating enough citizens to get what they want. I wonder how much more money the OPC could raise if the plan was to build a garage for the use of all park users? Why isn't the design firm allowed to consider that option? I hope the city council and Mayor got a wake up call when they saw how much monetary support there is for saving the Greensward. Money seems to be all they listen to. Save the Greensward!

Re: “Report: New Zoo Lot Would Take an Acre of Greensward

3million dollars would go a very long way towards building a garage that the zoo and ALLl patrons of Overton Park could use. Spending that money in any other way is a total waste and very shortsighted. Personally, I resent the belittling name calling of Midtown residents and the fact that our city council refuses to represent us . The local citizens have made it very clear that we want our Greensward saved. Our local wishes and needs should be listened to and placed above the occasional out -of -towners' who come in from Arkansas or Mississippi to visit the zoo.We pay taxes and we vote. It's really very simple. If the zoo needs extra parking 65 days out of the year and we the people need the Greensward 365 days out of the year then whose needs are greater ? We do not want our park turned into a parking lot! Build the garage and get it over with. $3 million is a great start.
