Re: “Mayor: Memphis Situation Different from New Orleans on Confederate Statues

It's a statue. Is your grasp of history so tenuous that you need a big hunk of bronze to remind you?

BTW. The Confederacy lost. We'd like to move on. After 150+ years, isn't it about damn time?

Speaking of revisionist history (points at the last two comments above.)

Re: “Mayor: Memphis Situation Different from New Orleans on Confederate Statues

Was he really an early civil rights activist? Or was he an insurance salesman who was pandering to a potential market? And does that make up for the Fort Pillow Massacre or the thousands of humans he trafficked in?

He was on the losing side of a rebellion. Let's not forget that part of history.

Or we can go the way of Texas, and pretend that all those people were just "immigrant labor," as some of the textbooks that state approved do.

What's more, does that latter bit of history justify his being memorialized in a park (against his wishes, BTW)? There's nothing on the statue about that, it doesn't show him kissing a black woman on the cheek or advocating for blacks to have jobs (without which they can't pay his insurance premiums). It shows him on a war horse.

And if we're going to include history, "warts and hall," how about revising the plaques downtown to reflect that he was a slave trader instead of an "entrepreneur"?

Re: “Fiery Suicide Galvanizes Midtown Music Community

Once the funding for mental health was cut, the GOP has done its best to keep it from being restored. And they've succeeded . Expanding Medicaid in Tennessee would have helped, but no, we can't have that.

Re: “Fly on the Wall 1472

Shouldn't one of those "L"s be an "R"?

Re: “Cohen Reacts to Comey Firing

While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau.

45 has zero credibility left.

The FBI director is appointed to a 10-year-term so that he/she can conduct business without regard to who they might piss off. Being pissed at Comey and ripping him a new one is one thing.

Firing him after he testified before Congress that he's investigating your campaign and several of your associates is another.
