Beale Street Caravan Fund-raiser at Ardent Studios

Each week on public and community radio stations across the globe more than two million listeners learn about blues and Memphis music via Beale Street Caravan, a long-running syndicated radio program created in Memphis by executive producer Sid Selvidge and his staff. Shows this summer will feature artists such as Sonny Landreth, Todd Snider, the Juke Joint Duo, and Susan Marshall, and local listeners have three opportunities each week to listen in: Tuesdays at 11 a.m. on WEVL-FM 89.9, Wednesdays at 6 p.m. on WUMR-FM 91.7, and Saturdays at 7 p.m. on WYPL-FM 89.3. The Beale Street Caravan's annual fund-raiser occurs this Thursday, June 3rd, at Ardent Studios in Midtown, with live music from the Homemade Jamz Blues Band (pictured), a sibling trio out of Tupelo, Mississippi, which won second place in the 2007 International Blues Challenge. (The band will also perform the free June 5th kids' concert at the Levitt Shell in Overton Park at 5 p.m.) There will also be food, an open bar, and a silent auction. The fund-raiser runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $75. For more information, see bealestreetcaravan.com. — Chris Herrington
