Re: “Forrest Statue Discussion Tops Historical Commission's Friday Agenda

What is the Memphis Flyer's definition of a "faith leader"? Just curious......

Re: “City Officials: All Legal Remedies Will be Exhausted Before Confederate Statues Come Down

What is "unjust" and what is "right" is in the eye of the beholder. Harris is a loon. The Memphis Parks Commission had virtually stopped maintaining Forrest Park YEARS AGO, resulting in the Sons of Confederate Veterans taking over the maintenance. They have records to prove this. UTCHS maintains it by mowing now. Citizens To Save Our Parks paid for the flowers and mulch this year & hand pulled weeds & roots from the beds. Harris knows Forrest Park cannot be fenced & closed to the public because it is a cemetery which falls under TN state laws & the descendants must be allowed ingress, egress & regress to the burial sites.

Re: “Shelby County Commission, Mayor, Support Relocating Confederate Statues

County mayor Mark Luttrell as lover of history, quote:

I was born in Jackson, TN, but grew up in Bells. We had a big garden, raised chickens, and ate three hot meals a day. We belonged to the Baptist church, and we lived right next door to our preacher and his wife, a true gentleman and lady from the old Southern school. From as early as I can remember, I've always had a very passionate interest in history. I went after what I loved and majored in history and political science. One thing that did stick with me was a deep appreciation for the historical foundation of our country and of my family, and I carry that passion to this day. I'm quickest to anger when I see intolerance, when people don't take the time to see both sides of an issue and insist on making decisions or forming opinions without the facts.

County mayor Mark Luttrell as RINO & budding Socialist, quote:

I support the citys position. This is an issue you should address. This will show strength!

Re: “Confederate Group Promises 'Swarthy Convict' Cellmate for Those Removing Statues

CL Mullins - LOL!! Your comment: "Sorry i have NBF's fifth cousin twice removed..." Where do you have Gen. Forrest's 5th cousin twice-removed stored? In your closet? In a cooler or deep freezer in your garage? What a loon!!! Sorry, all Forrest descendants present & accounted for, dear! Next absurd comment, MFlyer......

Re: “Confederate Group Promises 'Swarthy Convict' Cellmate for Those Removing Statues

Mr. Banbury, Gen. Forrest was buried @ Elmwood in 1877 & wife, Mary was buried there in 1893, but they were in the Forrest family plot, not at Soldiers' Rest with the Confederate dead. But their only surviving child, their son, Capt. William Forrest approved moving his parents to Forrest Park in 1904. He was the closest living heir. Gen. Forrest's living descendants have stated their ancestors aren't going anywhere...end of discussion of removing bodies.

Re: “Confederate Group Promises 'Swarthy Convict' Cellmate for Those Removing Statues

Toby, Toby, Toby......when I googled "swarthy" images of pirates popped up as in "Pirates of the Caribbean"....arrrr, arrrr! LOL! Please.....this has nothing whatsoever to do with race. An English seafarer could be described as "swarthy" if he'd been tanned by the sun while sailing his pirate ship. I guess you have never been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney World! Your journalistic approach has changed a lot in four years and not for the better, that's a shame! I have a recipe for you: SWARTHY PIRATE'S COFFEE - INGREDIENTS: 1 oz. Spiced Rum, 6 oz Coffee, Splash of Vanilla Extract. DIRECTIONS: Start if off with a hot cup of coffee, brand doesn't matter. Add spiced rum and top if off with just a splash of vanilla extract. Serve with cookies and invite all the Marxist Flyer's snowflakes.
