Beverly Marrero Throws Hats in Ring for Cohen Seat

District 89 State Representative Beverly Marrero filed Thursday as a candidate in the Januiary 25th Democratic primary for the state Senate District 30 seat vacated by congressman-elect Steve Cohen. Marrero, known for her colorful headwear, thereby joined former city attorney Robert Spence and former Cohen campaign manager Kevin Gallagher as Democratic candidates for the seat. Lawyer Larry Parrish filed as a Republican, and Turner Hopkins did so as an independent.

One Democrat, G.A. Hardaway, and one Republican, Richard E. Morton, filed unopposed in their primaries as candidates for the District 92 state House seat vacated by Shelby County Commissioner Henri Brooks. The general election for both seats will be held on March 13th.
