Re: “Bogard going in Stanley BBQ Space

I think this is amazing: this will be one of the few black owned businesses in Midtown. And they plan to help the poor by sharing the profits with a food bank. Bravo!

Re: “1 S. Main Eviction Case Evokes Protest, New Legal Controversy

"New data finds Memphis is poorest large metro in America" WMC TV 2/6/2018. Google it if you want to read the report.

But you know who is not poor... a FedEx pilot because they make on average $234,000 a year plus benefits. So when I read a FedEx pilot is in court with a luxury hotel developer fighting over a $800K condo I find it hard to lose sleep because I know some folks in Memphis are evicted but don't have the ear of the local press and a degree from a $31,000 a year arts school.

Re: “1 S. Main Eviction Case Evokes Protest, New Legal Controversy

Regardless of how this shakes out.

Can we please stop vilifying "out of town" investors. Pointing to people who are not from where you are from and calling them out for it is small minded, small town behavior.

We are the poorest city in the USA we need "out of town" investors because our region is extremely poor.

Also, poor black people are exploited and evicted from their homes in Memphis everyday. Often these people are not white "creatives" aka hipsters. I hope we can offer them as much free legal advice and press coverage.

Re: “P&H Owner Worries New Development Could Hurt Business

Every story that covers this project should reference that one of the developers is the City Council Chairman and that the project received tax incentives from the city. Berlin Boyd is an enemy of the locals arts community. His importation of khaki clad white boys into Midtown is his most recent salvo against non-conformist artists.

This is gated community closed off from Midtown. It's future residents seek a bit of Midtowns art centric cool - which is why they land in Midtown - in the process that bring their suburban taste and kill everything interesting. They will complain about noise that the P&H it will close.
