Re: “Picking & Panning: Thinking about the 2009-10 Ostrander nominations

This was my first year experiencing Memphis theatre and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jekyll & Hyde was the first performance I saw and it was wonderful. I don't know that any single actor stuck out, but the show as a whole was so well done. La Cage was my favorite musical of the season. And Jonathan Underwood was so fun. The U of M is probably not eligible for nominations, but the student production of 12 Angry Jurors was also very strong. I agree with you that Gorey Stories was robbed of mention for set design. I bid on one of the bookcase pieces. It was such a clever use of such a small stage. The actress who played the director in Buffalo Gal was also very good - very believable - even though the play itself was not my favorite.
