Re: “The Grave Mystery at Shelby Farms

Shelby Farms has been more than just a dairy farm and a penal farm. It was also a safehaven for slaves and ex-slaves. There are remains of these buildings too. Also I love this trail; it's my favorite and I jog it at least four days a week. The trees around that area of the trail are pretty young which tells you they weren't there 50 to 100 years ago. Also they have torn down the old barn but you can still tell where it stood. What's odd is behind the barn it's pretty clear with only a few trees of good size near by. I believe it's safe to say that it used to be pretty clear back there and the owner of the barn probably owned the cars. There are other Civil War grave sites in the city that no one knows about, including one in Raleigh. As for the trail being haunted I have no idea. I've even been there past dusk and have felt nothing more than the usual uncomfort you may feel in the woods in the dark. I'm glad other people have taken interest in this though.
