Re: “Letter From the Editor

Thankyou Bruce and Bianca...for an article that brings attention to the horrendous actions of MAS..all dog advocates, rescues, fosters, etc. have known what goes on but evidently there are not enough of us to get the WORD out...again, Thankyou for bringing awareness to citizens of Memphis. By the way, only when Dr. Tower became chairman of the Memphis Advisory Board was the public locked out. Until then, we could go to every monthly meeting and voice our the public will only be allowed once every quarter...Yes we need more and more responsible owners but first we need a compassionate, caring place to "shelter" the helpless, abandoned, abused lives that are totally dependent on us. While I'm at it, I want to mention the area that is known as the "stray area." This is where most of the dogs are housed and it is off limits to the public. Before Matt Pepper came to MAS, I was allowed to go to the stray area and I chose and adopted a big, ugly, black, feral male dog. His name is Bullet (he dodged one) and he is the sweetest, biggest baby and with good food and lots of love has become very handsome....There are many, many dogs in the off limit area that are very adoptable! The public should be allowed to go there!

Re: “Missing Dog's Reward Increased to $3,000

Gosh, folks....another horror story coming out of MAS....why is anyone surprised? I manage a small business...and my employees are held accountable to do their jobs in a professional manner. In the case of MAS, when have the employees ever been held accountable? When has compassion, care, concern, medical attention, common everyday kindness been insisted on? Not just by the administration but by the citizens of Memphis? This has gone on for years, is still going the way, HOW DO YOU LOSE A DOG while it is on the ACO's truck? Who believes that? Why after all this time, has someone not been held accountable? The whole episode is, not only sad, but it is absolutely ludicrous! When MAS picks up an animal..They are responsible for the animal's safety, care, & housing, for a minimum of 72 hrs. I hope this family gets their pet returned, I hope they sue the city and MAS & win & I hope, as a result of this atrocity that Memphians wake up and DEMAND a decent animal shelter! To date, all the horrors committed at MAS have been swept under the rug and soon forgotten...and there have been many!
