Re: “Illinois Resolution Spanks Tennessee House Members on Neo-Nazi Vote

I guess they've cleaned up Chicago, so now they're branching out to help other states. Good for them.

Re: “Ronnie Grisanti's to open in Regalia

Looking forward to it. Memphis needs a good non-chain Italian restaurant. I was disappointed when their location near Chickasaw Gardens closed only to be replaced by a soulless overpriced pizza chain.

Re: “Grocery in Spaghetti Warehouse?

Good idea. Downtown Memphis will never be considered as a legitimate place to live (other than for people who work downtown) until it has a real grocery store. While "Sprouts" is not a Kroger, it would be a start.

Re: “Infill Frenzy

Crackomerican, where do you get the idea that there isn't a housing shortage in Memphis? There certainly is a housing shortage in Memphis and nationally. There are not many affordable homes on the market in decent areas. Not everyone can or has the ability to go into a bad crime-ridden neighborhood, by a $15,000 "fixer-upper" and "gentrify". That's a ridiculous thing to suggest.

Re: “New Bill Could Place Smoking Laws in Local Governments' Hands

Ok, thanks. I was able to find another article which had more clarity. So what the bill does is doing is add a subsection to the existing law, giving local governments the authority to regulate smoking in age-restricted venues, hotels, private clubs that do not meet the definition of a club in TCA 57-4-102(8) and are not permitted to sell liquor by the drink, public property, and parks. Sounds good.

Re: “New Bill Could Place Smoking Laws in Local Governments' Hands

This is confusing to me. Tennessee already has a state law banning smoking in restaurants and hotels and in almost all enclosed public spaces. So how will it "reduce issues related to second hand smoke" if this bill becomes law and allows localities to choose for themselves?

Re: “National Black Theater Museum Proposed for Brooks Art Building

Why does it have to be a "black" theater museum? Why not just a national theatre museum? That historic public building is 100 years old and belongs to ALL Memphians.
