Re: “The Rant

I agree 100%. My dad and I love live music. We attend as many shows as we can. We are constantly surprised and mortified by the actions of the audiences. Some of the recent shows we've seen at the Orpheum and Cannon Center, I have left the show feeling angry and stressed out. The drunken shout-outs- these are the worst!, the clanking and rolling beer bottles, people arriving late and then right away getting up to head to the lobby again for a smoke break or another drink, constantly chattering to the people around them, talking on their cell phones, taking pictures with said cell phones, checking their email, it just goes on and on. During the John Prine show the people directly in front of us spent most of it discussing the schedule for Bonnaroo and how to coordinate calenders, which was bad, but the worst part was they kept scrolling through the events list on their iphones. I never once saw them really pay attention to the show, or get involved in anyway. It's like people want to say that they did indeed see so-and-so but they don't want to actually be bothered with paying attention or behaving like an adult during the few hours it takes to see the show.
