Re: “Black Lives Matter

I love the way so many people have the energy to comment here with stupid stereotypes and racism (if you don't want the race card played, stop leaving it on the table) but not enough energy or intelligence to actually read the article. Way to go. No wonder Memphis goes nowhere.

ArlingtonFool: Jeff is being sarcastic. Read what he's saying again. He's basically mirroring your own thoughts back at you. Don't bother denying it--you wouldn't be asking the questions you're asking if you didn't honestly believe the people who stay poor are morally inferior and lazy.

If it were that easy to get out of poverty, everybody would. If everyone were out of poverty, this system we have now would collapse. The programs that you claim make it "comfortable" to stay in poverty, don't actually do that. Otherwise you wouldn't see such a major correlation between serious poverty and violent crime. These people's conditions make them angry. They feel trapped. They feel they have no hope. You'd act out too. If you wouldn't, you're not human.

People, including black people, tried fighting back against the conditions that perpetuate poverty, especially during the 1800s, and they got killed for their trouble. They have effectively been cowed by the system and by the authorities. All they can do is turn on one another, while people like ArlingtonFool sit back in their comfy not-even-located-in-Memphis white-flight fancy homes passing judgment on everybody else and voting for anti-union, anti-poverty-program politicians. Thanks for being part of the problem; pardon the rest of us if we don't look to you to solve it.
