Day of the Dead in Memphis 

Memphis' Latino community came out in force to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos at El Mercadito de Memphis, a multipurpose retail space/restaurant on Ridgeway Road. In addition to music, dance, and other live performances Oferendas, adorned with the traditional Marigold flowers were exhibited. Catrinas-- the opulently dressed skeleton figures based on José Luis Posada’s icon of death-- wandered through the crowd stopping occasionally to pose for the cameras.
