Re: “MEMPHO: Your New Music Festival

Anyone remember "The Soybean Jam" festival at the Farms from 1979? That was also in October and it was a fantastic setting and time of year for a music festival. looking forward to something fresh and NOT downtown!

Re: “What Type of Restaurant Does Memphis Need?

Also Garibaldi's, PLEASE open a walk-in restaurant somewhere in East Memphis minus the frat styling. Nothing special, just quieter and larger for us geezer types. I'm tired of the take-out place on Yates, lovely as the staff is. Thanks!

Re: “What Type of Restaurant Does Memphis Need?

We have BEGGED Windy City Grill of Hernando and Como, MS, to open a branch in East Memphis. The food is excellent a great selection of sandwiches, pasta, burgers (I don't eat burgers but I eat theirs!) and great pizza you don't have to have an offshore account to enjoy. The salads are phenomenal, ice cold plates and homemade (really) dressings. Until they do open a location in Memphis pleasepleaseplease it is totally worth the drive to Hernando. We understand that the steaks and chops are fabulous too!

Re: “New Union Ave. Kroger to Open in Germantown

Thank you for this incisive update. Many of us older Memphians became aware of the initial drilling on The Krunnel foundations while hanging out in the parking lot of the now-demolished Babylon Cafe. It was apparent to everyone what was going on;the vibrations and jack-hammering were hardly being concealed. We all assumed that the resulting underground tunnel was intended for smuggling tofu and Tiger Balm to Collierville. Only after the closing of Babylon did we discern the invisible hand of Kroger Corporate at play. Glad it's all coming out.
