Re: “Andy Wise is Now on WMC-5's Side

I have a disturbing find regarding one of our local retailers. I have been a big advocate for Target and enjoyed shopping at their business. On Friday September 18, 2009 I went to the Colonial location and looked for a product I normally buy and the price was $22.89 for a 42 day supply of my over the counter heartburn medication. There was an item they did not have in stock that I wanted to purchase so I left and went to the newest Poplar location and found the item that the Colonical location did not have. I was going to purchase the 42 day supply of my medicine and found the price to be $24.99. I went to customer service on Poplar and asked if all the locations pricing should be the same. To my amazement they told me that they were not all priced the same. Now granted this is only a difference of $2.10 however how many other items might fall into this same category. I later sent a email of my complaint to their website and received a response that the Target stores do not price match from store to store. From this response I would think they would post this information at their customer service locations in each store. In this economic market there are many retail stores that use matching price as a selling tool such as Sears, Best Buy, Walmart. These stores will broadcast that they match their competitors prices. It is hard to believe that prices within the same chain of stores are not the same. I don't know if this is news worthy but I would think the public is due the knowledge to know that each Target location can set their own prices and if you want to save money on a product you will have to driver 4 to 5 miles down the road to shop to find the better price thus spending time and gasoline to do the job that this store should be doing for the consumer. I don't think they are intentionally hiding this fact they just are not forthcoming with the information. As I said in this economic climate any savings is appreciated although it might be $2.10. How many other items are priced differently and the unassuming consumer goes into the location of choice and they may be paying a higher price because Target does not price match location to location. Thank you for listening.
