Re: “Zoo Lot Construction to Begin Monday

This is not so much the end of parking on the Greensward as the beginning of permanent Zoo parking on the lost 2.4 acres. Park Protectors were stabbed in the back by so-called "leaders" who felt a need to impress the City and helped them hijack the public input process, which ignored or suppressed all public input and eliminated all options except for three minor variations on the plan the Zoo wanted. And never allowed the public to make any comments at the "public input" meetings. We fought hard but the Zoo got what they wanted, and a million of public donations to boot.

Re: “Council Candidate Burch Accuses Opponent Fletcher of Violating State Law

Paul Morris' comment that Fletcher "loves his hometown" is belied by his use of the despicable Brian Stephens of Caissa Public Strategy as a campaign consultant. What Fletcher loves is the continued control of the City and Council by a white elite. He also blows the "Public Safety Dog Whistle" in his coded and racist references to Public Safety. He is committed to the mass incarceration policies of MPD and the DA and the continued pilfering of the City treasury by PILOT recipients and property speculators in general, many of which have contributed four figure sums to his campaign.

Re: “Council Candidate Burch Accuses Opponent Fletcher of Violating State Law

Charles Burch, what went missing here? Not to put too fine a point on it, Tami Sawyer's proposal to fire Mike Rallings and replace him with a Director who understands how to, and has experience, in reforming police departments from mass-incarceration to community oriented policing is the only way to go.

I notice that John Marek in 5 has also advocated police re-engineering via new outside leadership. MPD has proven that it can't police itself and is addicted to harassing political dissenters via such tools as Authorization of Agency and blacklisting. And, of course, by recruiting the poor into the criminal "justice" system.

Charley Burch, would you support the next mayor firing Rallings and vote to approve a new Police Director with community policing chops? Underline the difference between yourself and the police stooge Cody Fletcher.

Re: “Council Candidate Burch Accuses Opponent Fletcher of Violating State Law

Fighting crime? That's a coded and racist dog-whistle that the Caissa candidates and Jimbo Strickland have long relied upon to get elected. It's about as low an electoral tactic as it can be. It puts Fletcher among the dregs of the body politic, willing to divide our communities further at a time when a bit of solidarity and community would go a long way. Despicable.

Re: “Council Candidate Burch Accuses Opponent Fletcher of Violating State Law

Cody Fletcher's contributors include Worthless Morgan, Boyle, Farnsworth, Turley, Loeb, Orgel, Belz and Crump combine with Skycop vendor Greg Nuckles and State Rep Mark White, plus numerous attorneys and construction related donors for a whos who of Memphis money. Brian Stephens of Caissa Public Strategy consults on his campaign. Fletcher is part of a conspiracy which includes eight candidates whose aim is for the 25.5% white demographic to continue to control the city on behalf of Memphis Tomorrow. And he also supports the mass-incarceration criminal justice system and MPD. To say he is pure evil is an understatement.
