Truer words were never spray-painted on a billboard. This is currently on exhibit at McLean and Lamar.
Unwanted Memphis
People are always making lazy comparisons between Detroit and Memphis. But Fly on the Wall prefers a more apples-to-apples approach, which is why your Fly-Team has spent the past few weeks lazily comparing Memphis, TN, to Memphis, MI, a much smaller town with only two gas stations. Once you look beyond the vast differences in size, industry, and pretty much everything else, you'll see the similarities between the two like-named cities are not entirely nonexistent. Consider, for instance, this recent headline from the Port Huron Times-Herald: "No One Really Wants to be Mayor of Memphis."
Mayor Daniel Weaver says he is ready to retire following a car accident. Unfortunately for Weaver, the city charter requires at least two mayoral candidates, putting him in a position where he's practically forced to run. The challenger, Denny Borek, says he actually kinda likes Weaver and is only running because voters deserve a choice.
Caught in Traffic
This window decoration was observed while driving down Park Avenue.
The individual letter stickers spell out "PANTER." Not PAINTER. Not PANTHER. So is the driver an obscene phone caller or a cash-strapped Pantera fan saving up to buy that last gold foil "A"?
