Headline o' the Week

A vision of total headline awesomeness appeared totally vision-like this week in an awesome press release from the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Legislation (NORML): "98-Percent Of All Domestically Eradicated Marijuana Is 'Ditchweed,' DEA Admits." Whoa!

The release cites figures produced by the DEA stating that of the estimated 223 million pot plants destroyed by U.S. law enforcement agencies, 219 million are uncultivated feral hemp plants containing virtually none of the chemical that gets you high and makes you want to eat a bucket of Lucky Charms. The folks at NORML (who have clearly never bought a bag of oregano from a shifty guy named Z-Dog) use this information to argue that the wild weed doesn't get you high, so it can't possibly contribute to black-market trade.

Isn't, Is

Andrew Dansby, music critic for the Houston Chronicle, thinks Justin Timberlake's new CD

FutureSex/LoveSounds says more about what the singer isn't than what he is. Over the course of his review Dansby determines that "Justin Timberlake is not a teen-pop pinup"; "Justin Timberlake is not Prince"; "Justin Timberlake is not a Southern soul musician"; "Justin Timberlake is not a Backstreet Boy"; "Justin Timberlake is not a singles artist"; "Justin Timberlake is not a robot"; and "Justin Timberlake is not Al Green." Associated Press entertainment writer Christy Lemire, on the other hand, thought FutureSex/LoveSounds was fairly definitive. She opened her review with the straightforward announcement: "Justin Timberlake is horny."
