Dissent was trampled at the Republican National Convention last week when mounted police, riot police, and bicycle police, armed with wooden batons, caustic sprays, tear gas, concussion grenades, and rubber bullets, strapped on their gas masks and descended on a peaceful crowd of grey-bearded peaceniks, teenage girls with panda-shaped backpacks, and assorted hippies on stilts. Over the course of the convention, journalists were indiscriminately arrested alongside protesters. The Fly-team only escaped a visit to the hoosegow by hiding behind this girl and her extremely convincing sign.

Outed!

What will Larry Godwin do? This week, while covering northwest Tennessee's Soybean Festival, the University of Tennessee at Martin's student-run newspaper outed undercover Memphis police officer Larry Howell.

According to The Pacer, "Howell can only perform with [his singing group] outside of Memphis because he works as an undercover investigator."
