Fly on the Wall

Neverending Elvis According to U.K. tabloid The Sun, photographer Winston Jansen was roaming the forests of Singapore when he stumbled across a stink bug described by the newspaper as "an uncanny look-alike of the late, great rock 'n' roll King." Not to be outdone, The Daily Mail also carried the story about Jansen's famous insect, claiming it was the spitting image of Bert from Sesame Street.

Biting News The adage goes something like this: When a dog bites a man, it's not news. But when a man bites a dog, THAT'S NEWS! Well, apparently it's time to amend that theory to include circumstances where women bite cops while dogs watch. Memphis pit-bull owner Kristen Anise Hall didn't take too kindly to a police officer telling her she needed to scoop some poop. Hall responded by kicking and biting the cop. Once the story broke, it was everywhere. "As far as we know, the pit bull was perfectly behaved in that park," said National Public Radio reporter Steve Inskeep.

That's All Folks ... They weren't joking. On April 1st, the big smiling pig that reigned over Midtown took his final bow as the Madison Avenue Piggly Wiggly re-opened as the Orwellian-sounding Cash Saver Cost Plus Food Outlet. "Yes, the April Fool's Day switchover date was intentional," The Commercial Appeal reported. "I figured that would be as good a date as any to open with a new name," said owner Rick James, whose famous name made this sound like a super freaky prank. But no. R.I.P.I.G.
