Fly on the Wall

Trigger Talk

House Republicans tapped Rep. Curry Todd of Collierville to head a committee tasked with developing more pro-gun legislation for next year. Not only did the Republican majority fail to pass the "Guns in Cars Bill" and the "Guns on Campus Bill" in 2011, they made no effort to turn your Pesky Fly's dream of Show-Your-Gun-to-a-Monkey Day at the zoo into a reality.

Flushed with Anger

When you've got to go, you've got to go. And that goes double for Aurelio Manuel-Chen, who has been accused of stabbing his roommate with a screwdriver for taking too much time in the john. It's hard to argue with Evan Richmond, who told WMC news, "You [Manuel-Chen] are going to jail for something stupid. You could have just waited." Or used the sink.

True (Stupid) Crime

According to the Associated Press, Stephen Gibson of Bartlett flashed an official-looking badge and made some rude comments about an SUV driver's speed on I-40. That's when the undercover detective driving the SUV arrested Gibson for criminal impersonation. Gibson told the detective that a lot of people pretend to be police officers, which is true.

And it's cute when they're 6.

Exotic Memphis

Anyone who's ever strolled along the trolley line has probably noticed the image of Puck that adorns the building at 409 S. Main. But who has seen this 1890 photograph of burlesque actress/dancer Verona Jarbeau striking the same pose? The Jarbeau photo was recently published online by flavorwire.com.
