Copy editing errors and hockey violence

The Marshall County Tribune recently published an article titled "Respect is a Signigicant Issue" about John DeBerry, the representative from Memphis who visited Marshall County to talk about school safety. Copy editing, also a signigicant issue.

Mid-South residents owe the Memphis RiverKings a huge debt of gratitude for an upbeat public service announcement reminding circus fans to order their tickets online rather than in person, where they might be brutally assaulted by vicious, clown-hating hockey hooligans. A TV commercial for the RiverKings depicts a neatly coiffed man in a purple sweater visiting the Landers Center box office to buy a pair of tickets to "the circus."

His request is overheard by a surly hockey fan with a mohawk. "Circus tickets?" Mohawk guy asks. "What about RiverKings hockey tickets?"

Purple-sweater guy is reminded of hockey's violent reputation.

But then he stops thinking about anything when his sweater is pulled over his head and the beating escalates.

This is easily the Pesky Fly's favorite local commercial since the Mid-South Gastroenterology Group gave us gastroenterologists high-fiving one another following an especially awesome colonoscopy.
