Fly on the Wall

Rasslin' News

Rolling Stone paid tribute to retiring talk show host David Letterman last week with a feature chronicling the funnyman's six most iconic interviews. Naturally, Letterman's famous double-header with Memphis wrestler/WWE host King Jerry Lawler and conceptual comedian-turned-super-heel Andy Kaufman made the cut. Rolling Stone had this to say about the night Andy poured coffee on Jerry, and Jerry slapped Andy, and America fell for it: "The sense of danger and anything-goes chaos was palpable, and the incident made headlines. Letterman and Late Night had arrived."

Your Pesky Fly is happy to report that things are weird all over our fair state. A Clarksville couple made the news when their heartbreaking story was selected to be dramatized on the season premiere of the TLC reality show Sex Sent Me to the E.R. The story goes like this: The couple thought they would have some naughty fun by decapitating an extremely large gummy bear, melting its head in the microwave, and using the liquified gummy head for personal flavoring. Serious sugar burns followed. The moral of this story: Don't try to improve on an enormous bear.

Neverending Gun Stuff

As anyone who's toured Graceland's trophy room knows, Elvis Presley collected guns, including an ornate gold Beretta with a mother of pearl handle. But Beretta may have gone too far when they used the King's image in an advertising campaign for a new line of shotguns.  Billboard magazine reports that Elvis Presley's estate is suing the company that introduced the new sporting weapon at a Las Vegas trade show and hired tribute artists to perform and pose with the guns. As far as we know, no televisions were harmed in the process.

In related news, this May, dentists across the U.K. will promote mouth cancer awareness with an event called Elvis Day. Participating dentists will display models of the King's teeth.
