Re: “Digger O'Dell

The original Digger Odell was a character on the old "Life of Riley" radio program. Digby "Digger" Odell was the "friendly undertaker" on the show. He always exited the scene with "I'd better be shoveling off".

I'm not certain why anyone would think that the soldier was engaged in hand-to-hand combat at that point in time. I always imagined that the signal had been given to advance and he was walking up out of one of the trenches.

Re: “Memphis' Trampoline Pits

The pits I remember, if I remember correctly, were located on the south side of Summer Ave. west of Waring next to the original McDonald's and directly across from Zayre's.
