Tonight s art openings are at: Grace Place for Wings of Prayer, paintings and sculpture by Lisa Jennings; The Gallery (656 Madison) for Creepy Things From Under the Bed, spooky works by several local artists; and at David Lusk Gallery Infinitas & Beyond, paintings by Robert Rector. Also, Peabody Place Museum celebrates its 5th anniversary today with free admission all day. Just down the block at Peabody Place s Muvico Theater, today kicks off the week-long Cremaster Cycle, the five-part epic film saga by Matthew Barney. Back down in Tunica, David Sanborn is at the Gold Strike Casino tonight. And here at home, Digital Underground and Ground Zero Movement are at Young Avenue Deli. The Chris Scott Band, as always, is at Poplar Lounge. Nora Jones guitar player Adam Levy is at Automatic Slim s tonight performing tunes from his new recorded-in-Memphis CD Get Your Glow On. There s a CD-Release party at Cappricio Bar tonight for the much-anticipated new record by Memphis jazz chanteuse Kelley Hurt. And tonight s big whoop-it-up is night one of this weekend s StranjBrew HooDoo XII Music Festival at Murphy s at The Madison Flame (tonight) and The P&H CafÇ (Saturday night). This concert for The Church Health Center, in honor late Memphis musician Craig Shindler, features live music by more than 20 acts, including The Subteens, Ultracats, Vending Machine, Chris Scott, Lance Strode, The Memphix Collective, Critical Path, Jimmy Harris, Joint Chiefs, Johnny Lowebow, On a Dead Machine, and many more.
