Back at the Downtown School, there s an art unveiling this morning for the public art installation designed by Memphis artist Lurlynn Franklin. Later, there are several art openings. They are at: the National Ornamental Metal Museum for works and a talk by metalsmith Harlan Butt; Midtown Artists Market, Sip Coffee & Conversations for Lil Altars, sculptures by Donna Blackard, and mixed media works by Dwayne Butcher; and Jay Etkin Gallery for a show of new paintings by Jeri Ledbetter and Not Critically Acclaimed, collages by Flyer art reviewer David Hall. If you want to get up early and get out your best lawyer jokes, there s a Barristers Pancake Breakfast at Calvary Episcopal Church this morning from 7-9 p.m., with members of the Memphis legal community cooking up and serving flapjacks to help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Memphis Mid-South Race for the Cure. Back at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, today kicks off this weekend s Metal Museum Repair Days & Auction, with more than 100 metalsmiths on hand. Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel will be playing pop, folks, jazz, classical, and country music tonight at the Bartlett Performing Arts & Conference Center. Cowboy Mouth<./b> and Better Than Ezra are at the New Daisy tonight. New Orleans-based rockers The Iguanas are at Automatic Slim s. And, as always, the Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge.
