A couple of art openings tonight. One is at the University of Memphis' Fogelman Executive Center for "Visions," a juried exhibition of works by Artists' Link; the other is at Delta Axis Contemporary Arts Center in Marshall Arts Studio for "It's a Human World," works by Adam Shaw, Elizabeth Alley, Alan Duckworth, Kurt Meer, Tom Strider, and Vera Iliatova. If you want to mingle with some of the dancers from Ballet Memphis, you can do so tonight at Ballet Memphis' Friday Night at the Studio, where there's an open rehearsal for their upcoming performance of "Mars and Venus" at the studio on Trinity road. Piston Honda, In the Balance, Shame Face, and Down in the Park are at the New Daisy. Paintings by Anne Siems on show at David Lusk through January 26th. The Subteens and The Harlots are at the P&H. The River City Jazz Society is playing at the Ivy Bistro, El Boho, featuring Gary Gazaway, is at Young Avenue Deli. And last but certainly not least, The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge. I would go into great detail abot how talented these guys are and what a show they put on, but I don't want you there taking up my bar stool.
