Here it is again, Independence Day. So go out and celebrate you independence before John Ashcroft takes it away from you. Tonight s Live at the Garden Summer Concert Series at Memphis Botanic Garden show is Pops with the Plants featuring the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. The Memphis Redbirds play New Orleans. There s a Three 6 Mafia CD-Release Partyat the New Daisy. Down in Tunica, Percy Sledge is in concert at Bally s tonight and tomorrow night. And here at home to light up the night, tonight s WMC Star Spangled Celebration at Shelby Farms gets started this afternoon and features fireworks and live music by Lifehouse, Sixpence None the Richer, and Beanpole. There s a Red, White, and Blues Celebration in Tom Lee Park with live music, games, and fireworks. If you want to watch the fire works from a different angel, Fm 107.7 The Pig is hosting a concert on the rooftop of the Gibson Guitar Factory by the Jayhawks and The Thorns (The New York Daily Times recently wrote of the Jayhawks CD Rainy Day Music, Some voices were born to be braided with others. To wit: Lennon and McCartney, Simon and Garfunkel, or that four-way harmonic convergence, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Though less celebrated, the singers in the Jayhawks deserve to croon in that company.). And, as always on Friday nights, The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge.
