FUN WITH HEGEMONY

The Memphis City Schools Board s decision to require students to wear uniforms has made national headlines, including a mention in The New York Times. The theory is that if the children all look alike they will be less prone to distraction and thereby easier to control and educate. And it s really hard to argue with such time-honored methodology.
