Re: “Mike Fleming Laid Off by Clear Channel

But on to the future. I will throw the gauntlet down on Ben Ferguson right now, before he even gets the seat warm. While slightly more articulate than Mike, Ben is so rabid on the hard right agenda that he can barely keep the talking points straight. He is already a national disgrace as a whipping boy, tackle dummy for the pundits on MSNBC.

Wanna play ball, strawman.

No point calling his show, so I will air it here. The kid can't argue or debate. He goes directly into that reductionist, deconstructionist pseudo debate with any who disagree. The larger point can not be reached with him. The bad part is that he is not nearly so slick at these talk show techniques as a Limbaugh or Hannity, so it's immediately obvious he's doing it.

He comes by it honestly. Coming out of that barely-above-home-school, "classical" high school education. While it might have improved his test scores enough to get into that academic paragon, Ole Miss, at the end of the day, they just unzip these kids heads and fill them full of Five Point Calvinism, while calling it logic and rhetoric.

And don't even get me started on his proud membership in the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, where they stomp around in CSA military uniforms at homecoming, while waving confederate battle flags. The organization is a de facto southern segregationist Skull and Bones, with a long list of members that wound up on White Citizens Councils throughout the south. Too bad so many of them also wound up in the Senate and Congress.

Yeah, I said all that, Ben. You are a bowl cut hillbilly, pure and simple. Own it.

And before it is said I am a hater, I will put that right off the table. I cite the fraternity "yell" for KA, which generally includes the phrases "One, two, three, Robert E Lee! Three, two, one, South shoulda won!"

Re: “Mike Fleming Laid Off by Clear Channel

Thought thinker... political correctness has not a thing to do with this issue. The use of "the blacks" to the near 100% exclusion of any other phrase when referencing the African community was not acceptable for a public figure, a broadcaster of any kind, or a so-called journalist. Particularly when not ever saying "the whites" but rather "the white community" or "white people." It was as if he couldn't be bothered to put out the effort. Not to mention boxing black people into some permanent category of "other" to the audience hearing it. And I don't hate. I felt sorry for a lot of the people who called in. NOT ALL. But most. It was embarrassing and made me a little sick at my stomach to hear so many dirt ignorant, semi literate people from this community. It's a fact. And it is not intolerance or liberal hate to say so.

Re: “Mike Fleming Laid Off by Clear Channel

As a host, Mike Fleming played the sharpest tool in what is a very dull shed. He winked at the ignorance, and often outright racism of his audience. I listened to him for years and he continually deconstructed as an opinion leader. I think it comes with advanced age. He had turned from a person you could at least argue to an impasse if you knew your talking points to the typical right wing shill. I particularly objected to his inability to put the word "black" together in a sentence with the words "person," "people," "community," "man," or "woman." Almost every day it was "the blacks, the blacks." It felt like being in South Africa. Time to go Mike. Hope your retirement is successful in the economic and political environment you helped create.
