Golden Triangle, Girls of the Gravitron, Pharmacy

When: Wed., March 10, 10 p.m. 2010
Led by two women singers, the co-ed Brooklyn garage/psych sextet Golden Triangle is an impressive live act, where shaking hips and rattling tambourines become the de facto lead instruments. The band is a purveyor of rock-club party music as cult ritual, very much along the lines of their better-known genre cohorts King Khan & the Shrines. After a handful of EPs, the band just released its debut full-length, Double Jointer. It’s a decent record, but the slightly muffled, lo-fi sound doesn’t capture the excitement of the band’s live show. Golden Triangle — which also features former Memphian Alix Brown on bass — plays the Hi-Tone Café Wednesday, March 10th, with Girls of the Gravitron and Pharmacy. Showtime is 10 p.m. Admission is $7. — Chris Herrington
