Greedy Kidney at Otherlands Coffee Bar

Greedy Kidney is the odd but memorable stage name of Gina Sposto, a 19-year-old Memphis native currently residing in New York but back home for some live performances. An acoustic singer-songwriter, Sposto's vocal and guitar interplay has a jazzy musicality, while her songwriting, at this point, undercuts its wordiness with a conversational ease and playfulness, perhaps reminiscent of such arty figures as Regina Spektor or Nellie McKay. She's obviously a work in progress but a very promising one. Sposto opened for the Dan Montgomery Band at Otherlands Coffee Bar back in November and was well-received enough to be asked back this week, on Saturday, January 19th, when she'll be joined by locals Paul Taylor, Davy Ray Bennett, and Jesse Dakota. Showtime is 8 p.m. You can find out more about Sposto at greedykidney.com.
