First African Americans, then Native Americans, now Buddhists... who else would Charles H. Gillihan like to defame? (Imagine my surprise, or lack thereof, to find the inconsistent and rambling letter in question to have been written by him!) I think the Dalai Lama's idea of forgiveness is right on. It is Mr. Gillhan who seems to have difficulties with the concept. Forgiveness is not always coupled with restitution. Sometimes restitution is not possible. Besides which, forgiveness dependant on restitution is not true forgiveness. And what's with his dragging "settlers" into the picture again? Has he not realized that there are other people in this country besides the descendants of the immigrants of a few centuries ago? Here's hoping he keeps his "social order" to himself.
