How To Improve the NBA Lottery (A Little Late for Grizzlies Fans)

"The look on Jerry West’s face said it all. The longtime Grizzlies executive, seated on the dais at NBA TV studios in Secaucus, N.J., didn’t exactly cringe when NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver opened the envelope that bore the Grizzlies’ logo at the No. 4 spot at Tuesday night’s draft lottery. But as he sat with his hands folded, he had a look as if to say, ‘See, I told you so.'"

Sports Illustrated’s Marty Burns argues that NBA fans in Memphis and Boston have legitimate gripes in the aftermath of Tuesday’s draft lottery (won by the Portland Trail Blazers).

He even has a suggestion for improving the system, a suggestion with outgoing Grizzlies president Jerry West in mind.
