International Goat Days Festival

When: Fri., Sept. 10, 6-10 p.m. and Sat., Sept. 11, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. 2010
The Goat Days Festival is back! The event includes the “World’s Shortest Goat Parade,” a Myotonic (“fainting”) goat show, arts and crafts, a rodeo, live music, and goat-milking demonstrations. The event also includes a Kansas City-style barbecue contest. (Asked what goat tastes like, a contestant from last year said, “It’s hard to explain. It’s pretty good eatin’.”) One of the bigger attractions is the Goat Chariot races, held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Entry for the race is $30 for adults and $10 for children. Participants have three options: 1) provide their own chariot and goat, 2) bring their goat and rent a chariot ($10), or 3) rent both the goat and chariot ($35). For more information, go to
