When Today's Katie Couric asked Justin Timberlake if the title of his first solo release, Justified, implied that the boy-band heartthrob had something to prove, our J-Tim turned the tables and paid homage to his hometown, saying, "I think I wanted to show everybody the side of me that grew up in Memphis, which is where blues was invented." Blues history lessons aside, we all owe J-Tim a debt of gratitude for restoring dignity to our enfeebled indigenous music form and for reuniting down-home blues music with its traditional folk dance, the Moonwalk.
